Journey Art In Situ

ART IN SITU ON THE PATH OF "DES GRANDS CRUS"

An exceptional journey among the vineyards

Initiated by the founder of Art Fair // Dijon, Jean-Marc Bassand, “Art In Situ, sur la route des grands crus” aims to give a unique vision of the wine heritage in our region by associating it with works of contemporary art installed in different estates. This artistic path aspires to sublimate the regional territory by associating contemporary art with different wine estates of Bourgogne. It thus makes it possible to discover the historical, environmental and wine-growing heritage in an innovative and contemporary aspect, thus creating a bridge between artists and estates. From renowned art galleries, foundations or artist residences, these works bring a new perspective on the richness of our territory.

WHY A DUO BETWEEN DOMAINS / GALLERIES

by Raphaël Charpentié, Artistic Director of Art Fair // Dijon

"Art In Situ - Sur la route des grands crus" was conceived as a sensual alternative to the excess of screens and virtualization. It is a matter of cultivating the fertile ground of the obvious harmony between art and wine, of re-enchanting our gaze on the terroir, while establishing long-term cooperation between galleries, estates and spectators.
At the intersection of the sensitive intuitions of the galleries and the complex and delicate work of the Bourgogne estates, the goal is to create a place where people, art and wine meet.

A LONG-TERM JOURNEY

Around two annual highlights and in particular at the time of Art Fair // Dijon, galleries and estates will be invited to intensify their cooperation, offering visitors and collectors: visits, meetings and tastings.

PARTICIPATING AREAS / ARTISTS / GALLERIES

Domaine Chapuis in Aloxe Corton

Exhibition of the sculptor: José Aguirre - represented by the gallery owner Jean Greset

The estate has 11 hectares of vines in the Côte de Beaune around the Corton hill with a production mainly of red wines from Pinot Noir and two white appellations from the Chardonnay grape.
Our job is to reveal the unique terroir of Burgundy and that starts in the vines. We are daily in our plots with our team because we believe that it is through the observation of the smallest details and the attention given to each vine that lies the secret of a high quality wine. We prune in "Guyot-Poussard", a technique more respectful of the flow of sap and thus maximizes the life expectancy of our plots. Always with this attention to detail, our harvests are made entirely by hand to select only the healthiest berries.

Domaine Bonneau du Martray in Pernand-Vergelesses

Sculpture exhibition at the Maison Jacques Copeau: Elmar Trenkwalder - represented by the gallery owner Bernard Jordan

Corton-Charlemagne & Corton
Owner of a thousand-year-old vineyard which stands on an exceptional site, the Bonneau du Martray estate is dedicated to the production of two wines, two Grands Crus: Corton and Corton-Charlemagne. These wines are the result of the meeting between the creative genius of nature and the stubbornness of several generations of men to make it a place of excellence.
Respect for a heritage - Owner of renowned vineyards in California and passionate about Burgundy, E. Stanley Kroenke wished to serve history in turn, by pursuing the same quest for perfection and excellence, like the pages of stories written by the Benedictine monks, the Bonneau du Martray family and Le Bault de la Morinière.

Bouchard Père et Fils in Beaune

Exhibition of the sculptor: Herman Gunter - represented by the gallery owner Jean Greset

Founded in 1731 in Beaune by Michel Bouchard, Bouchard Père & Fils is one of the oldest wine houses in Burgundy, perpetuating traditions for nearly 3 centuries and 9 generations.
It is over time, through a blend of terroirs produced with patience and meticulousness, that Bouchard Père & Fils has built up a vast estate in Côte-d'Or which now has 130 hectares of vines.
A unique heritage in Burgundy, due to its diversity and prestigious appellations: Montrachet, Corton-Charlemagne, Beaune Grèves Vigne de l'Enfant Jesus, Bonnes-Mares, Meursault Perrières. Names steeped in history and emotion, which incite excellence and respect, including four monopolies and exclusives.

The Patriarche cellars in Beaune

Exhibition in the cellars of: Maurice Frydman and Paola Pezzi - represented by Gil Bauwens
Exhibition in their courtyard by the sculptor: Robert Schad - represented by Jean Greset

The history of PATRIARCHE has been written with daring men and women since 1780! Each of them has marked the company with their exceptional personality over the centuries and contributed to its sustainability and development. They are the foundation of the long and beautiful story of PATRIARCHE. Their brands are today guarantees charged with authenticity and perpetuate their legends with products inherited from their know-how.
As a Merchant-Breeder, Patriarche has chosen to be the ambassador of the richness and diversity of Burgundy over the vintages.
Aging in bottles takes place in the vaulted cellars of the Couvent des Visitandines in Beaune, dating from the 17th century. The breeding and our know-how will affirm the particularity and the authenticity of the terroir of each wine and will lead it to maturity.
Aging in casks, barrels or vats will be preferred depending on the appellation and the vintage.
